• Stay Safe Programme

  All classes will be taught the Stay Safe programme between May and June 2019.  The Stay Safe programme is a mandatory personal safety skill programme for primary school.  Its overall objective is to prevent child abuse, bullying and other forms of victimisation.

   

  The programme develops children's ability to recognise, resist and report risk situations or abusive encounters by teaching children.....

  • To identify for themselves unsafe or upsetting situations
  • Simple rules to help them avoid abuse
  • To respect and value the rights of others
  • The language and skills they require to seek help

   

  The programme also informs parents and teachers about preventing bullying and child abuse, whilst seeking to create a greater public awareness about the problems children can and do experience.

   

  The children are taught the content of the Stay Safe lessons in the classroom by their usual class teacher, and then discuss the lessons at home with their parents. 

   

  The lessons teach children about what to do if they're frightened or upset. One of the central messages children learn is that if they ever have a problem, they should tell an adult that they know and trust.

• Review of Child Safeguarding Statement

• New Deputy Principal

  We are pleased to announce that Mr. Conor McGuinness has been appointed as Deputy Principal of our school. Mr. McGuinness, from Rush, was educated at Rush National School and St. Joseph's Secondary School. He completed his B.Ed degree in Primary Education at DCU. He has been a member of the school staff for two years. He will form part of our leadership team at an exciting time for the school as it moves forward.

• Easter Holidays

  The school closes on Friday 12th of April at 12 o’clock for the Easter holidays. We wish all of the school community a very happy Easter.

• Girls Senior Team in Semi-Final

  Well done to the girls senior Gaelic team on making it through to the semifinals of the league. This is a great achievement for the pupils and coach Mr Conor McGuinness.

  

• School Closed for Bank Holiday

  Just a reminder that the school is closed on Monday 18th of March for the St. Patrick's Day Weekend. We reopen on Tuesday 19th of March.

• John Spillane visits for Seachtain na Gaeilge

  On Tuesday 12th of March we had a very special visitor to the school as internationally renowned singer-songwriter John Spillane performed a concert. John entertained the whole school and it made for a very memorable day as he played a set of well known tunes as Gaeilge.

  

• ESB Science Blast

  Mr McGuinness’ 5th and 6th class are taking part in the ESB Science Blast in the RDS today Wednesday 6th of March. They explored the question: ‘What foods can charge devices and why?

• New Swimming Term

  A new swimming term begins tomorrow, Thursday 7th of March at 3;30 pm in Aura Leisure Centre in Drogheda.

   

  Come an learn to swim with your classmates.
