• ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards 2017

  Well done to 6th class who have made it to the semi-final of the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist awards. Their entry was their Climate Change mural. They now enter the Leinster ECO-Den -think Dragon's den-. 

   

  This will take place in the European Commission offices in Dublin this week -Wednesday 29th of March-. Here the children will present their project to a panel of expert judges. The best 80 projects in Ireland are chosen and invited to the prestigious showcase and awards ceremony in the Mansion House in May.

  

• Junior Gaelic Team Result

  Well done to the Junior Gaelic team on winning their opening game of the season on Thursday. In a very sporting game both Milverton and Loughshinny played some lovely football. Thanks to Loughshinny National School for facilitating the change of venue.

• 5th & 6th Class Concert In Rush Nursing Home

  The pupils of 5th & 6th class visited Rush Nursing Home on Wednesday 22nd March to perform a concert for the residents.  This is their second visit there this year and it is an event the children always look forward to.  

  Thanks to Andrea Gallagher for her work in preparing the children and to retired principal Shay McGuinness for organizing the visit.

• Well done to the Senior Gaelic Team

  Well done to the Senior Gaelic team on a great game on Tuesday.  They played Thornleigh ETNS.  They won the game and played some lovely football.  The game was played in great spirit by both teams.  

• Green School Twinning Project

  We are delighted to announce that the school has been selected to take part in a Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE)  project of twinning a limited number of Irish schools with an international partner school. Only ten Irish schools have been chosen for this project. 

   

  We have been twinned with Mapanga Primary School in Tanzania.

   

  Green schools or ECO schools -as they are known outside Ireland- can be found in 64 countries throughout the world.  This is a fantastic opportunity for Irish schools to develop work on sustainability issues and for taking forward their plans on the sustainable development goals. 

   

   

• Gaelic Football matches this week

  There are two Gaelic Football matches this week. 

  • Tuesday 21st March @ 2:00pm. Senior team vs Thornleigh ETNS. Venue: Fingallians 
  • Thursday 23rd March @ 2:30pm. Junior team vs Loughshinny NS. Venue: Loughshinny (please note change of venue)

• Senior Gaelic Football Result

  Well done to the senior football team on a very good performance in their first match of the season against Hedgestown NS. The game was played with great sportsmanship by both teams.

   

  The team won their first game and play Bellewstown NS in their next game in the Man O'War. 

   

   

• Richard Dunne RIP

  It is with deep sadness that the Board of Management, Staff & Pupils learned of the death of Richard (Flash) Dunne. Richard was a past caretaker in the school. 

   

  We would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam dilis. 

• ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards

  Best of luck to the children of 6th Class with their entry in this year's ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist awards 2017.  The children are entering their climate change mural project as their entry.

  

• Cybersafety Talk in Skerries Community College

  Skerries Community College Parents Association are hosting a cybersafety talk on Wednesday 1st March at 7:30 pm.  The talk is entitled: "Cybersafety: What Every Parent Should Know" and is delivered by Pat McKenna of childwatch.ie

   

  Tickets are available from Skerries Bookshop or the office in Skerries Community College and are €5.
