On Wednesday 4th of October the Ladies All-Ireland Trophy was brought in to the school by Lyndsey Davey and Sinead O'Mahony. Sinead of course is a past pupil of Scoil Moibhi. The two players were fantastic ambassadors and took time to get photos with everyone and sign autographs.
Thanks to Lyndsey, Sinead and Johnny Beggs and all at Skerries Harps for organising the visit.
This year the pupils in Mr McGuinness' and Mr Tyndall's classes will be taking part in the Fingal Schools Athletics League. There are 5 races in total in the league between now and April. The league begins this Thursday 5th of October with a race in Newbridge House. This race was deferred from last week due to the inclement weather.
This is a fun laser run in conjunction with the Modern Pentathlon and will see the pupils get an opportunity to shoot laser guns at electronic targets at the halfway point in their race.
We will be travelling by bus to and from the event. 48 children in total will be taking part in this fun event. The cost of the bus is 2 Euro.
Our new term of school swimming classes will begin again for this year on Thursday 28th of September from 3:20-4:00 pm in Aura Leisure Centre, Drogheda. The first term runs for five weeks until the 26th of October. There will be five terms in total for the year and will finish on the 31st of May 2018. Final costs will depend on the number of children taking part but we try to keep the price as competitive as possible.
The pupils in Mr Tyndall's and Mr McGuinness' classes 3rd-6th are taking part in the Marathon Kids programme run by Fingal County Council. This is an eight week programme for students and involves four running sessions per week inching them closer to their first marathon as well as learning about the benefits of physical activity.
The finale will see the students running their last mile and completing the Marathon at the National Cross Country Course located at the National Sports Campus in Dublin 15.
Practice will resume this Friday, 15th September from 4:30pm-5:30pm in the Church. Registration for new members, boys and girls, from 1st class and up, will be at 4:15pm before practice.
Particularly welcome are those making their 1st Communion or Confirmation this Year.
