ANAPHYLAXIS RISK
Scoil Moibhi is now a designated “Nut Free Zone”
Due to a child in our school recently been diagnosed with a severe allergic reaction to nuts
This allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock) can occur through
• ingestion of nuts products
• cross contamination
• breathing nuts in the air
Since this condition can be life threatening, we are asking for your help in minimising the risk to this child by making our whole school a Nut Free Zone
This can be done in the following ways:
a) Avoid giving children any kind of nuts in school lunches.
b) Avoid giving nut/peanut butter sandwiches, other spreads containing
nuts such as Nutella and snacks/bar containing nuts in school lunches
c) Asking children not to share their lunches
Due to the severity of the problem, it is important that all parents carry out the suggested measures and reduce the risk of allergic reaction to children
All staff have received training on administration of medication required
