  • March Reopening

Wed 24 Feb 2021 Milverton Staff

Dear parents, guardians and pupils,                                                25th February 2021.

We are all so delighted that the following classes: junior, senior infants, first and second classes, are allowed to return on Monday next, March 1st, 2021 at 8.50 am.

Then on March 15th, we hope to welcome back our remaining senior classes to school.

We would like to bring the following to your attention:

    • School opening hours: Junior and senior infants: 8.50 a.m. – 1.45 p.m.

                                             First and second classes:   8.50 a.m. – 2.45 p.m.

During these two weeks we will not be implementing the staggered opening and closing times, however, this will be reviewed when all classes return to school.

    • Please ensure that all school books, copies, library books and a fully equipped pencil case, as per September return are returned to school on Monday in your child’s school bag.

    • The school car park will now be used for both drop offs and pick ups and this will be supervised by Ms. Gilroy. Please do not drop off your child at the front of the school as this area will not be supervised.

    • The children will then proceed directly to their classrooms via the main new building door, at the steps, where the teacher will be waiting for them. No adults are allowed in any school building unless by prior appointment with a teacher.

    • All Covid safety measures remain the same.

We look forward to seeing your children on Monday, if you require any assistance or clarification please do not hesitate to contact us on office@milvertonns.ie .

  • Man O War - Trip around the World!

    Mon 18 Jan 2021

Man O’War is undertaking a ‘trip around the world’, commencing on Monday 18th January, and we would like the schools to get involved.

We want our Club community to get active over the next  4 weeks and connect with and ‘visit’ our club friends around the world in far flung places like Canada, Abu Dhabi, Australia and New Zealand.

What we are asking the community to do is walk, run or cycle as much as possible over the next few weeks to clock up the kilometers or steps ( adhered to Covid19 public health guidelines).

Non players can text their distances to Deirdre Sheridan (087 3070928) or Rachel Moore (0863138497).

The club’s progress will be tracked on their website and social media pages.

Best of luck to all involved, it sounds a brilliant initiative.

  • Collection of Books for January Closure

    Fri 08 Jan 2021

    Dear Parents and Children,

I hope that you are all safe and well. This is a brief message regarding the collection of books and resources to assist with remote learning. The school will be open for pickup of all materials on Monday 11th January. Teachers will facilitate the collection by putting each child’s books and belongings into a neat pile at their desk. This will allow for quick and easy collection of your child’s belongings by appointment.

    Collection Times

    • 2pm - 3pm: Junior - 2nd class pupils

    • 3pm - 4pm: 3rd - 6th class pupils

When on the school grounds, please observe the following protocols:

    • Social distancing of two metres must be obeyed.

    • Please avail of the hand sanitizer.

    • Wearing a face mask is mandatory.

    • Anyone with an underlying condition should not come into the school grounds.

Continue to access SeeSaw and the school website for updates (in the latest news tab) about remote learning and other information as it becomes available to the school.

         Take care and stay safe,

Maria Lynam and all the staff in Scoil Moibhi.
  • Letter to Parents Regarding January Closures

    Fri 08 Jan 2021

    8TH January 2021

    GENERAL INFORMATION

    Dear Parent / Guardian

As announced by the Minister of Education Norma Foley, all schools will not be reopening prior to 1st February.

As it was becoming apparent that such an announcement was imminent members of Senior Management in all Skerries schools once again met virtually to discuss common concerns, plan for what is an immediate issue, what under normal circumstances would be taking place at this time of the year and if / how alterations could be provided.

All of us as leaders as well as our teachers and SNAs would so much prefer to be returning as normal, however we are aware that the Health and Safety of all members of the school community and the community at large must be a priority.   Each school, as mentioned, has made a decision involving consultation, surveys etc with all stakeholders as well as using professional judgement as to what works best for the children in our care. The message we would like to clearly deliver is that while we would strongly recommend engagement with our plans it is fully understood that every family situation is different, and we will do our best to support this while fully appreciating that the wellbeing of your family is of paramount importance so that upon return to school all members of our school communities are physically and emotionally receptive to resuming learning.

All schools will be returning to online learning in the week commencing Monday 11th January.   In most cases this will be similar to what was used during the last school year.  All schools will endeavour to deliver as best a service as is possible and we are all hoping that our staff will remain well and where necessary substitution will be available nationally to uphold these plans.  Our primary schools in the town have access to a teacher supply panel which is beneficial but was unable to meet all demands during the first term.

On behalf of the leaders of our schools we wish you all the best and thank you for your support, patience and understanding.  We really look forward to working with your children ‘face to face’ again soon.

    With every good wish.

    Maria Lynam and Conor McGuinness
