This Thursday 6th of April the children of 5th & 6th class are going on a history field trip to Newgrange visitors centre, Knowth passage tomb and the high crosses at Monasterboice.
The children should arrive to school at the normal time. We should be back to the school by 3:30 at the latest. A text will be sent to parents when we are on our way back. The cost of the trip is €10 and should be given to Mr Tyndall on the day.
A huge thank you to the Derek Earley #9 Foundation for presenting the school with a defibrillator. This lifesaving device will be a massive addition to the school and to the local community.
Derek Earley was caring, charismatic, talented, thoughtful and funny. He loved life and lived it to the full. Derek should be here with us now but because he is not his friends and family have established this organisation in his honour.
The organisation raises money to improve funding for and awareness of cardiac ailments in the young so that others at risk live long and healthy lives.
There are two Gaelic Football matches this week:
Tuesday- Senior Team play Gaelscoil Ros Eo @ 1:30pm in the Man O'War
Friday- Junior Team play The Naul @ 2:00pm in the Naul.
Well done to 6th class who have made it to the semi-final of the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist awards. Their entry was their Climate Change mural. They now enter the Leinster ECO-Den -think Dragon's den-.
This will take place in the European Commission offices in Dublin this week -Wednesday 29th of March-. Here the children will present their project to a panel of expert judges. The best 80 projects in Ireland are chosen and invited to the prestigious showcase and awards ceremony in the Mansion House in May.
The pupils of 5th & 6th class visited Rush Nursing Home on Wednesday 22nd March to perform a concert for the residents. This is their second visit there this year and it is an event the children always look forward to.
Thanks to Andrea Gallagher for her work in preparing the children and to retired principal Shay McGuinness for organizing the visit.
