| New Playgound As you will know we have acquired the use of land adjacent to the school for the specific use as playground space. A tremendous amount of work has been put in to turning it from a field into a grassed and fenced play area. This would not have been possible without the fundraising efforts of the Parents Association and the huge community spirit of a dedicated group of volunteers. The play space itself is not yet ready for use as the surface needs further time to mature. |
School Attendance With the implementation of the Education Welfare Act we are obliged to offically inform the National Education Welfare Board of the absences of all children that exceed 20 days. Therefore: 1. All absences of pupils must be accounted for by a parent on a single sheet of paper. 2. The date, the reason for the absence and a parental signature must be on the note. 3. Notes in relation to absences may no longer be sent in the homework journal. |
| Car Park The school has also acquired the use of land for a car park. The Board of Management is actively working to achieve this. As the area is subject to planning permission it will take time for the process to be completed. We will keep you informed of any developments. |
Staff Meeting The date of the next staff meeting is Friday 22nd of October 2010. The pupils will go home at 12.30pm. |
| Pupil Information Update We are currently updating our files on all pupils. We would ask all parents/guardians to fill out the attached form (handed out at school) and return it to your child's class teacher. |

| Parking We would ask that as much as possible the front of the school is kept free of cars. This would allow parents to 'stop and drop', buses and bin lorries etc., access. To facilitate this we would ask that all children from second class up would make their way to their classroom independently. |
Art and Craft Money We would ask that all art and craft money could be given to your child's teacher as soon as possible |
| Parent's Association: AGM The parent's association would like to extend an invite to all parents of the school to join the for a meet and greet cuppa on September 13th @ 8.30pm at th school. This will be followed afterwards by the Annual General Meeting of the Association. |

| Text a Parent This year the school will be using the 'Text a Parent' service to keep parents informed of important information, date or time changes of events, reminders of up coming school related activities i.e. school tours, matches, fundraising events etc., We are hoping that it will be a more reliable way of communicating with parents than the 'note home', which many parents often find ends up in the bottom of the schoolbag. The 'Text a Parent' service however will not replace long communications, which will be done by letter. Texting this way comes at a reduced rate - to text the parents of one class will cost approximately e1.50. The amount of photocopying will be reduced considerably and parents are guaranteed to get the message. |
.Swimming Classes The parent's association run swimming classes will recommence on Thursday 16th of September 2010, between 3.20 - 4.00pm. The venue is AURA in Drogheda. | Pupil Personal Accident Insurance The Parent's Association organises the Pupil Personal Accident Insurance. If you wish your child to avail of this, please complete the attached form (handed out in school) and return it to the box outside Mr Tyndall's room. |
